Video taped cameras are a security measure to look for in a good self storage facility. Cameras should be located at the access points to the property and buildings. Older systems include VHS tapes that are rotated daily through a VHS recorder and re-used after a monthly period. The old system provides for a lower grade picture each time a VHS tape is recorded over an out dated tape. New facilities use a DVR (digital video recorder) to video tape activity on property. A DVR provides the property with a clear picture and enables a property to maintain a longer history of activity.

Digital Video Recording

We use a DVR to monitor and digitally record the activity on 32 cameras on our property. Our cameras are strategically located throughout the property. In the office we can monitor and record the rental process and all customers that visit our office. In the entrance key pad we record the face of every person as they enter their secret pass code in the key pad to authorize vehicle access to the property. At the main gate we have several cameras that record vehicles as they enter and exit the property. On the property perimeters our cameras cover the parking areas and all perimeter fences. At all entry points to the buildings people are captured as they enter any building hallway. At all elevator doors people are captured going into and coming off the elevators.

Current and Past Activity Available

The ease of operation of our DVR allows us to call up or review past activity on the property as far back as several months. We feel video taped camera surveillance on a DVR is a good deterrent to criminal activity. Our cameras and DVR work together to record real time activity on the property.

Remote Access

Our system allows us to log on from any remote internet location and view real time activity from any camera on the property. This remote capability provides an advanced security opportunity.
