Portable Storage Myths

Portable Storage Myths

Portable Storage Units have become quite popular in the United States and Canada; however, there are several portable storage myths and facts that you should know about before moving forward with portable storage.  We understand how valuable your belongings are, and feel strongly that you should be well equipped with as much knowledge as possible before investing your time and money into storage.

Sizes

First of all, most portable storage units only come in larger sizes, so they are not ideal for business storage or small personal storage items.

Access

Another reason these portable storage units are not ideal is the fact that it is extremely difficult to access your items.  When keeping your items on their property, you have to schedule an appointment at least 24 hours in advance to be able to see your items.  Depending on which company you use, you may be charged to add or remove items from your storage container.  At Bonita Storage Inn, you can access your items 365 days per year and no scheduling is required.  You can work on your time, not theirs.

Delivery Fees

Also, they will charge you to bring the portable storage container to you to add to it, and if you want to avoid that charge, you would have to rent a truck for large items and bring it to the main facility, which could be located miles and miles away from your home.  This can be particularly devastating when truck rental companies charge by the mile.  At Bonita Storage Inn, we have a FREE rental truck with every move in!

Storage Location

With most portable storage companies, you will be given two choices.  Keep the steel container on your property for the duration of your storage, or store it at their facility; there are disadvantages to both scenarios.  While it may be nice having your storage in your front yard, there are several things to keep in mind. This will only give you a few dollars in price difference. If you cannot store it on the street or on your driveway, you have to consider front yard grass damage. If you have a home owner’s association, they may give you a hard time. There will be no climate control, the security is only as good as the lock you put on the front of it, and quite frankly, a big steel container is an eyesore.

Security

Should you use portable storage; you do not see their security.  You have no idea who has access, and again, the security is only as good as the lock that you put on the front door. They do not have individual door alarms we do. There are also the access issues as stated above, and remember; the potable storage companies will charge you for every time you have your container moved, every time you look for access to it. At Bonita Storage Inn, you meet all of our employees. You see how beautiful our facility is. We hope that this education on portable storage unit myths and facts aids you in your decision.  Above all, we hope that you feel comfortable with all of the advantages of storing your belongings at Bonita Storage Inn so we can gain your trust and your business.  If you have any questions, please contact our storage staff; we will be happy to help you and answer your questions.
