You will want to find a self storage facility that is of non-flammable material and has up to date fire protection. A good fire system should be centrally monitored 24 hours a day 365 days a year and have smoke alarms, fire pull stations, sprinklers, fire extinguishers and horns and strobes. When a fire starts response time is critical. Proximity to a fire station will reduce the call time it takes for fire department response. There is a fire station right across the street from us.

Fire Resistant Construction

Our single story buildings are built with concrete block exterior walls, rigid frame steel building with a standing seam metal roof. All exterior doors are steel. All interior walls and doors are steel too. These non-flammable materials will help to provide fire protection.

Our multi-story building is built with concrete block exterior walls, pre-cast concrete floors and a standing seam metal roof. All interior doors and walls are made of steel or concrete block.

Smoke Detectors and Fire Alarms

Where there’s smoke there’s fire. Smoke rises to the ceiling. Our smoke alarm will detect smoke, trip the alarm and send a call for fire department dispatch to our property. The elevators also have heat detectors as well as smoke detectors. Each and every smoke alarm is tested annually to make sure they are operational.

Fire Sprinklers

Fire sprinklers activate with excessive heat on an individual sprinkler head. This will limit water to the fire and not drop water across the entire building. Only the area that has fire will be sprinkled with water. Maybe you have seen the movies where someone pulls the fire alarm or heats up a sprinkler head and the sprinklers go on in the entire building. That won’t happen at our place only the sprinkler head that is affected will sprinkle water.

Fire Pull Stations

Fire pull stations are located at each entrance to the building. If you were to see fire or have an emergency where you needed help, pulling the fire pull station will get you an immediate response from the fire department. They don’t have far to come. They are manned 24 hours a day and are located right across the street from us.

24 Hour Monitoring Plus Horns and Strobe Lights

Our fire alarm system is monitored 24 hours per day. Our fire alarm system will not only notify the fire department but will notify everyone that is on the property as well. The horns will blast and the light strobes will flash until the system is manually silenced by our staff or the fire department after confirming there is no fire.

Fire Extinguishers

The sooner a fire is stopped the better. We have over 57 fire extinguishers that are strategically placed throughout the property. No matter where you are on the property, if you see a fire, typically a fire extinguisher will be in your line of sight, usually within 30 feet. All fire extinguishers are serviced annually to make sure they are ready to go in case of an emergency.
